all about it....
Dear Hearts & Gentle People:
This special edition is to bring you news of a major
fire in downtown Lex. I do not have all the details at this time, but we do have
pictures. The fire was centered in the old Entine's Department Store building.
It was an antique mall. Other buildings damaged included the Margarita Grill
next door (east), Missouri River Antiques (to the west) and very likely smoke
damage to other stores nearby, including the Velvet Pumpkin.
No one was injured, although people did live in the
apartments above the buildings. I believe the facade of the buildings will
change little, but at least two of the stores were gutted inside. You can see
these by clicking on:
The next issue will contain more details of the fire,
your reactions to the last issue, more old photos, maybe some new photos and
much more Lexington trivia. Stay tuned. And thanks to Snaps Hulver for the
pictures and to Webmaster Ball for getting them on the website so
quickly.
Your devoted scribe,
Susan
