Mittieville Peckerwood Club, redux |
|
For reasons perhaps best left unspoken, the Mittieville Peckerwood Club is a recurring topic amongst Lexingtonians -- both those who patronized
the club and those who wish they could have. Shown below is a photo of the establishment looking pretty good:
Of course, time has passed and the Peckerwood Club doesn't look quite the same these days...
Recently, Al McCormick, WMA '67, send the photo of an earthed treasure to Your Faithful Scribe. Al's explanation
is below the photo:

Pat Minter, wife of Bruce Minter, opened The Spotted Pig downtown on Franklin. Bruce discovered the sign in storage
and acquired it for display at the spotted pig.
Votes are underway as to whether to leave it as is or restore it. My personal hope is he will restore even though it's none
of my business.

And we'd really like to know the outcome, too, Al!
As this page was being prepared, Your Webmaster thought he noticed a strong resemblence between the sign, above,
and another emblem well known to Old Lexingtonians. Your Webmaster asked Your Faithful Scribe if she, too, noticed the similarity.
Here's her reply:
"...No, I hadn’t consciously recognized the similarity of the signs, but sub-consciously I had –
because I remember a fleeting reaction (‘Maid-Rite’) when I saw the P.C. sign."
What do our readers think? Is there a strong resemblence to the Maid-Rite logo?
Finally, as we said, there are those who can only wish they could visit Mittieville. Recently, Your Faithful Scribe sent along a photo of her grandson, Eric Worthington, "clowning around." We say he's communing, not clowning!
