TLC #79: August 26, 2005
Dear Hearts & Gentle People:
I've had so many phone calls today that I realize my
reporting skills were inadequate. Let me add the information about Susie
Skelton
everyone seems to want:
Ike's address here is: 1814 Franklin Ave.
Lexington MO 64067
The family has requested, in lieu of flowers,
contributions in Susie's name to the First Christian Church (1515 South St.
in
Lex, 64067) or Delta Delta Delta Sorority (901 Richmond Ave., Columbia MO
65201). The Walker-Nadler-Fuller Funeral Home is handling arrangements, and
burial will be at Machpelah.
I hope I have remembered everything this time. If
not,
please call.
Many notes came in today, and I will include the
appropriate ones in TLC #80. One of the phone calls was from Jim
Tabb,
formerly of Lexington, now of Tyron, NC. A retired airline pilot, he is
big in the world of BBQ. Jim promises to write a note for TLC. Meanwhile, there
is an article about him in Southern Living Magazine, the July 2005
issue.
Another nice surprise for me was hearing from John
Graves '57. I haven't seen him since we graduated from high school. John
writes...
I live in Killen, Alabama, which is a small town in the
northwest corner of the state, about 50 miles west of Huntsville. We have been
here since 1987, and I retired from working at Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant in
Athens, Al. We lived in Los Angeles for 25 years before coming here. My wife,
Betty, was born and raised in this area, so here we are. I met her in L.A. and
we both thought it was time to make a change. After I retired, in fact the next
day, I found myself in the hospital having 4 by-passes and a valve repair.
Go figure. It has been a year since then and I am doing just fine.
What a way to celebrate retirement. Glad you're doing
well, Johnny.
More photos to come soon, as the old Bridge comes
down.
Your devoted scribe,
Susan
