Dear Hearts & Gentle People:

You may talk to us for hours of the beauty of the west, when the sun has gone to seek a night's repose....etc.

Heads Up!!! Big Homecoming weekend coming up in the old hometown. Somewhere in cyberspace is floating an email you should have received at least two weeks ago, so I do apologize for the lateness of the information. Modern technology is wonderful, when it works. I hope many of you can make it to Lex this weekend. The planners have worked long and hard, and sounds like a lot of good times are in store. The following is the latest info, hot off the press:

Lexington High Schools Homecoming weekend is September 24th and 25th this year, but don't expect the same ole schedule.  A committee of LHS faculty and administrators, community members and patrons has put a new twist on the occasion, complete with fireworks, a pig roast, and a dance.

LHS Homecoming Schedule:

Wednesday, September 22nd:  Fired Up Night in the LHS cafeteria.  Come join the fun while you watch various skits and show your Minutemen pride!  Stick around for the bonfire, when they Roast the Roosters!

Thursday, September 23rd:  Parade and Courthouse Pep Rally.  The parade will feature the Marching Minutemen, the Minutemen football team and cheerleaders, as well as our volleyball team, tennis team, softball team, class floats, and much more.  Follow the parade to the courthouse steps where there will be a guest speaker and spirit competitions.

Friday, September 24th:  Kick off the weekend with a Pig Roast Tailgate before the Minutemen football game.  It starts at 4:30 p.m. and costs $7.00.  Enjoy the recognition of the 1954 football team and the 1994 football team, before the game (approx. 6:40 p.m.) and join these classes as they celebrate their reunions.  Halftime will introduce the 2004 Homecoming queen and her court, and showcase the Marching Minutemen and Cheerleaders.  After the game, stick around for a spectacular fireworks display!

(Class of 1954 and 1994 =96 please meet in the sections of the stadium seats that have been blocked off for you at 6:15.  At that time, we will take names of the =9154 and =9194 football teams, to be introduced at 6:40, before the kick off of the game.  Questions?  Call Marlin Roach or Rachael Marchetti)

Saturday, September 25th:   Take a tour of the high school, see the changes to the building, and find your picture on our wall of fame.  Tours will run from 10:00 a.m. to noon and will be conducted by the LHS Student Council Members.  There will be an alumni golf tournament Saturday at Shirkey Golf Course in Richmond, MO so get your tee time reserved (contact Marlin Roach for info on the golf 259-4391 ext. 206).  Wear your dancin=92 shoes to Lexington Lion=92s Club for a night full of live music, dancing and reuniting with old friends and teachers.

Keep informed through The Lexington News, or the Lexington R-V School District=92s web site at www.lexington.k12.mo.us.  There will be more updates and information about the event.

Our Minutemen, our Minutemen, they'll do their very best. For vict'ry, yes vict'ry, for good ol' LHS. We're in the fight, we're for the right, we'll make our battle strong....so here's a cheer for our boys, the team that can't go wrong. Rah! Rah! Rah!

The last paragraph is my attempt to fire you up. Did it work? Just be glad I didn't attach sound.

Your devoted scribe,

Susan
