Remember Tabo?

Many of you will remember a popular night spot known as "Tabo". It had a long and rather colorful history! The class of '58 had their 50th year reunion recently and Jim Thorp had these interesting photos which appeared on the '58 reunion web site. We thought our readers who belonged to other classes might like to see them.

Jim tells us that this shot was taken during the floor of 1951 which was a big one! It's for certain that is was not one of Tabo's better moments. But it's our understanding that the flood waters didn't change the character of the dance floor very much. The dance floor was reputed to be very wavy and slanting down-hill, all at the same time!

Probably after Missouri Highway 24 was moved and a new bridge was built over Tabo Creek, the Tabo establishment relocated to where the old Locust Grove School had been. This photo is of the "new" Tabo. The sign says they have 7-Up and 5% beer and Dancing Nightly.

But location is everything and you can't move the atmosphere of a place, so it was never the same. It was renamed "Cajobi's" but burned down some time in the late '60s, we understand. Can anybody give Your Faithful Scribe any further details? Or stories, possibly?
